Edible Bowl
2013
The Royal college of Art
Short term project/Solo project
Plastic is a substance the earth cannot digest. This edible bowl is made of several natural ingredients to address this issue. The bowl is shaped and solidified through strong pressing process, so that it would not be broken nor melt easily. Even though the edible bowl is not a perfect alternative, it provides intellectual curiosity to those seeking environmentally friendly materials.
HEEJU KIM
is an industrial designer
As an industrial designer who is standing on the intersection of technology and hardware, I enjoy imagining innovative directions in adopting emerging technologies in industrial design. I have a relentless passion for learning all the new things including new technology, people's behavior and experience, and the working mechanism of ordinary objects. Through UX driven design process, I can create user-friendly, practical applications while crafting compelling aesthetics.
My Design Philosophy:
Design that considers behavior and the human mind changes society for the better. I constantly observe ordinary people and things facing in everyday life and learn about them. Although technology develops on its own, I think it is the design that makes technology communicate with people and solve the inconvenience people experience. In application with advanced technology, design has a positive impact on people in ways never imagined.
